Borrowing

You can borrow 12 books per visit  for no charge.  You can also borrow up to 12 CDs, 12 talking books, 12 special collection videos, and 12 film videos or DVDs. There is a charge for the loan of any of these categories of stock.
Most books are issued for 3 weeks although books in the "Bestsellers" collections are issued for 1 week, and you may renew them if no-one else has reserved them.
Books may be returned to any County Library.
We make a charge if you bring your books back late.  If you lose or damage something you have borrowed from the library we will usually ask you to pay a replacement charge.  Note: You can have a specially extended loan if you are going on holiday. Please ask the staff before you have the books issued.
Talking Books are issued for three weeks.  CDs, DVDs and videos are issued for one week.  All outstanding charges must be paid before any more of these items can be borrowed.

Can't find what you want?

Ask a member of staff, or use the catalogue. If the book isn't in the library we will try to obtain it for you for a small charge. Further details of the Request Service.
If the book or information you want is not available in Leicestershire Libraries we are part of the Inspire scheme, which has been created to allow the public access to all kinds of libraries: public libraries, university and college libraries, health libraries and many specialist libraries too.
