During 2007 there were many displays, events and activities in libraries inspiring everyone to get involved with Breathing Places.
Mercenfeld Primary School, Markfield, in partnership with Leicestershire Library Services and Leicestershire Environment and Heritage Services has been awarded a Big Lottery Fund Breathing Places grant to create a Reading Garden in an area between the school and Markfield Library. The Reading Garden will be designed and planted to become a wildlife haven. Library users will have access to the garden for their own personal reading enjoyment and organised library activities, such as storytimes, will take on a new dimension. The garden will be an outdoor classroom and lunchtime picnic area for school use and community groups will also be encouraged to use it. Work on creating the Reading Garden is well underway. |
