The CWA Dagger in the Library 2007This Dagger, sponsored by Random House and worth £1500, is awarded to "the author of crime fiction whose work is currently giving the greatest enjoyment to readers". Authors are nominated by UK libraries and Readers' Groups and judged by a panel of librarians. This year a librarian from Leicestershire's Oadby Library was one of the judges.
After reading over 50 nominations from library readers around the UK including Oadby Library readers' group, the judges came up with a shortlist of 6 authors
The shortlist was hotly debated and the winner was:-
![]() Stuart MacBride
“His books tell of life in all its grim reality, but this only adds to the appeal of this truly impressive new author...the grimmest of subjects, but leavened (thankfully) with dashes of humour. He’s bad news for the Aberdeen tourist industry, but great news for crime readers.” C.J. Sansom was very highly commended for his Shardlake novels.
