Illustration from the Thomas Bewick Exhibition

An Anecdotal Eye

Thomas Bewick - Wood Engravings

4 - 25 October

The unique work of one of Britain's greatest engravers and illustrators will be on show at a special exhibition of Thomas Bewick's (1753-1828) engravings on wood at Melton Library Art Gallery during October.
Always a countryman at heart, Bewick loved the life and lore of the fields, the farms and the rivers, and his observations of animals and birds sensitively portray the creatures in their natural habitats.
His illustrations found an instant and appreciative audience when they first appeared, and have continued to engage people ever
This exhibition coincides with The Big Draw, a national campaign to celebrate the pleasure of drawing. You are invited to take part in a great day of activities that accompany this exhibition.
