Tithe: a modern tale of faerie by Holly Black

What is it about? It is about a girl named Kaye who lives with her mum in New York until her mum's boyfriend starts acting strangely. So they move to New Jersey, where Kaye used to see faeries. It turns out Kaye is actually a changeling, (a faerie that was swapped at a young age with a human) and is stuck in the middle of and evil plot. Why did you like it? It was dark, menacing, and a completly differnt spin on faeries. The kind usually told in folklore. Who would you recommend it to? Teenagers that love fantasy and mythology. Jodie (12) gave it  8/08

Excellent story about the attrocities of World War II told by a young boy. It is about a boy called Bruno. He lives in Germany and has to move house to out-with because his dad works there. He meets a boy named Shumuel who is a Jew.he wears stripy pyjamas. Why did you like it?: I like it because it is well written and it has a good story line. Who would you recommend it to?: I would reccomend it to older people and teenagers because little kids wouldnt understand it. Hannah Gale (10) gave it  10/07 It is about a boy names Bruno who has to move to out-with because his dad is working there.Bruno meets a boy named Shmuel who is a Jew who's birthidays were on the same day. Why did you like it?: I liked it because it was tragic and had a really weird feeling about.It was like i had to find out what happened at the end.It was amazing!!! Who would you recommend it to?: i would reccomend it to teenagers or adults because this isnt a young persons book. Cameron Baird (10) gave it  10/07 The story is set in world war 2 when Hitler is the leader of Germany. It is about a boy named Bruno who has a dad who is a soldier. At the end his dad goes missing but he is really dead. Why did you like it?: Because it was quite exciting and it pulled me into the story easily.Although it was sad at the end when his father died. Who would you recommend it to?: People who like war books but are not too wanting to see gore. Ellie Watts (10) gave it  10/07

What is it about?: 3 friends at school one of them is an undercover agent and one has a father who is part of a criminal organisation. The agent has to prevent the boys father from selling nucular weapons to terrorists by hacking into a hightech computer and changing weapon designs. Why did you like it?: I liked it because it was exciting and slightly scary. Who would you recommend it to?: older children 8+ Fred (10) gave it  4/08

The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien

What is it about? the first installment of the lord of the rings trilogy introduces the main characters (frodo baggins, sam gamgie, gandalf, mery and pipin)who set out on the quest to destroy the one ring, and vanquish the dark lord souron from the land of middle-earth. This book is slightly large and a complicated read but it is very enjoyable, and a good read. Why did you like it? I have always loved the movies and always wanted to read them. It is the first in the trilogy so i thought it would be best to read it first. It turned out to be my most loved book yet so it was a plus reading it! Who would you recommend it to? I would recommend it to pepole who love the films and want to explore them more. The age I would recomend this to is 12 plus as it has a few complicated sections but a worth read Rob (12) gave it  7/08

What is it about?: A boy called Adrian mole, who tells us about life when he was 13 and 3/4. Its about who he fancies,his Family and school.And how he goes to talk to an old man to keep him happy. Why did you like it?: I dont read much books but this has to be the best book that iv ever read and now im readin true confessions of adrian albert mole and im njoyin it as much as the secret diary of adrian mole aged 13 and 3/4 I love this type of book. Who would you recommend it to?: Any people my age. its really good. I like readin sue's books more than i watch t.v now. and if u ask any of my family they will say that they have seen another side of me since i started to read about adrian mole.
