Book Jacket Title & Author Review
book jacket
Noughts and Crosses
by Malorie Blackman
What is it about?: This book is about 2 very different races, Noughts-the upper class, and Crosses-the lower class. Two children, Sephy and Callum are best friends and begin to fall in love. But there is one problem: Sephy is a Nought, and Callum, a cross. As the races become more seperated, their relationship is harder to keep.
Why did you like it?: This book is very emotional and exiting. I found that I could not put the book down as I was entranced by Sephy and Callum's story.
Who would you recommend it to?: I would not recommend this to anyone really under 13 but if they were older they would enjoy this immensely.

This story is about a teenage girl living with a false identity (protected by the government) trying to cover up a secret from her deadly past, that if revealed would cause her to drop her life and start a new one away from the press leaving behind her loved ones.
I liked it because it had a big twist and was impossible to put down.
Who would you recommend it to?:Any teenagers who enjoy a gripping storyline of mystery and crime.

Twilight
by Stephenie Meyer
What is it about?: Vampires! a really AMAZING book and its virtually immpossible to put it down! its about a girl caller Bella Swan who moves in with her dad after living the majority of her life with her mum and there in the new town, she seems to think its really boring at first. And then she meets Edward. He's a Vampire, but a good one, that doesnt harm people. She discovers this and then they both fall in love, though for edward this is not good, he is putting her into danger! read the book to find out how!
Why did you like it?: It Was sooooooooooooo thrilling! and romantic, but not exactly girly, a boy could have read it too. it was just a really amazing book that made me feel as if i was the character with all their situations and problems, and very life like too!
Who would you recommend it to?: Boys, and Girls over the age of 13.

What is it about?: about a dull 17yr old whos life is dull, untill she moves in with charlie(dad) in forks. where she is constantly having to be saved by a very sexy vampire, who ironically thirsts for her blood. A very, very GOOD read. lots of action, love and lust in the sequels that follow. TRUS ME THIS BOOK GOT ME LATE FOR AN EXAM, AS I COULD NOT, WOULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. the sequels get more action filled and more saucier as they go on.
Why did you like it?: it engaged me from the very start and not much books do that to me. in the sequels to this book, new moon, eclipse and breaking dawn, i was litterally in zombie mood.
Who would you recommend it to?: 14 - 23 yr olds

Light fantastic by Terry Pratchett
The Light Fantastic
by Terry Pratchett
What is it about?: It picks up from where THE COLOUR OF MAGIC left off. The whole of the discworld(where the story takes place, Its basicily a flat world carried through out the Multi-universe on the backs of 4 elephants which stand on the back of the great A'Tuin, a giant turtle 10,000 miles across) is heading on a collision course with a giant red star. A'Tuin will not turn to avoid it for some reason and if they collide with it, everything will be frazzled. the high court of wizards decide that all of the Octavo spells should be said at once, but the 8th one belongs to Rincewind, who is currently touring the  world with twoflower, the disc's first tourist. The wizards try to track him down, but fail, until the spell takes over his mind and body and leads him to the other wizards. Unfortunatly, Rincewind already used the spell and therefore, must read it again out of the Octavo book. But they find the pages blank because one wizard wants to memorise them all, and if you do that, then the mind gets overwhelmed and you die. he has memorised 7 and is close to death when Rincewind snatches the book off of him and reads the spell directly from the newly worded page. everyone then realises why A'Tuin wouldn't stop: because little Baby Worlds are hatching out of the star. as soon as they've finished hatching, the star blows up, and A'tuin moves away.
Why did you like it?: Couldn't put it down in some places, also was funny in some places
Who would you recommend it to?: anyone who loves Sci-Fi , action, fantasy stuff.

Ronnie
by Ronnie Wood
What is it about?: Ronnie Wood and his life from the beginning.
Why did you like it?: You find out facts about his childhood and his family. I like the fact that it tells you how he got into music and his first band. You also find out about the tragic events in his life but you find out all about his parties and nights out.
Who would you recommend it to?: People who like music and the Rolling Stones.

The Book Thief
by Markus Zusak

Library staff recommended!

What is it about?: about a girl in war bound Germany.  Her little brother's died and her mother's in a concentration camp so she goes to live with a foster family with an accordianist and a mother who has anger manegment problems. The book is set in ww2 and is told by death.
Why did you like it?: I like it because of the way its writen. Its juicy and full of zang and you will burn your toast (like me) when you get carried away reading it.Its quirky in the way death is narrating the story there is nothing that lets this book down and there is so much attention to detail.
Who would you recommend it to?: people who are good at reading and like more unusual books
