![]() Just in Case by Meg RosoffThe Plot...15 year old David Case thinks that fate is out to get him. There are so many things you could do in life such as reinvent yourself, change your name and the way you look; leave home and find yourself caught up in a series of strange misadventures and even romance. But what’s the point if you’re not in control and if David isn’t, who is? For ages 14+
...What the Judges saidA story that deals with anxiety, depression and coming of age that has real emotional resonance. This is a distinctive and outstanding book written in an intelligent, yet spare style. There is an ‘edginess’ to the way the author writes; the result is clever and bold. The character of the teenage boy is conveyed in an interesting way and is not at all stereotypical. This is a story of survival in the modern world that is utterly compelling
What Leicestershire said...This is a really good read about identity and reinventing yourself.
I would recommend it to everyone Angela gave it
I loved this book.It was a fresh, humorous and compelling read.
The characters were colourful, credible and generally likeable ...For me it was reminiscent of Catcher in the Rye ,a real rites of passage novel following the somewhat surreal thoughts of one teenage mind….. I found the teenage perspective on Fate particularly poignant….. young people growing up and trying to work out who they want to be. I would highly recommend it to adults and teenagers s alike.
