Historic Parks, Gardens and Battlefields

English Heritage maintains a national register of historically important parks, gardens, and battlefields. There is no direct statutory protection resulting from this status, but inclusion on the register is a material consideration should an application be made for planning permission affecting the area. There are currently fourteen parks and gardens that are listed in the county.
There is one registered battlefield in Leicestershire – Bosworth, and this is of major national importance. See www.bosworthbattlefield.com for more information.
More information about Parks and Gardens are available from the English Heritage website.
The Battlefield Register is also available online at the English Heritage website.
