Wildlife site records
|
This website lets you search for wildlife sites in Leicestershire and Rutland You can search by name if you know it, or you can browse a map of the counties to find the site you are interested in. You can then see what records there are for that site. Records are organised by square kilometre so you will find results for the area of the site plus any from the km squares that overlap it. For example, if you were to search for the species found in one of the sites marked in purple above, you would find records for all the species found in the grid squares SK5914 and SK6014. Leicestershire Environmental Records Centre submits its records to the National Biodiversity Network Gateway who collect their data from Biological Record Centres and recording societies around the country. This means that the records they hold for Leicestershire and Rutland include those submitted by many organisations. This map search facility has been developed by Leicestershire County Council for the Community Heritage Initiative, a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Rutland County Council. This site is being developed and we are keen for your views on how useful you find it and how it could be improved so please fill in the feedback form or email us at the address to the left.
