Wildlife SurveysVolunteers are needed, in every parish across Leicestershire and Rutland, to help record natural history information. A variety of wildlife and countryside surveys.are available, and no expert knowledge is needed.Conservation in the CountyLeicestershire County Council works with other organisations around the two counties to safeguard our natural heritage.Use our wildlife records mapping search to see what records are held for the wildlife sites in the counties. TrainingThe Community Heritage Initiative runs training and information sessions throughout the year. Whether you are interested in learning more about the countryside and its history, getting involved with some of CHI’s projects or are new to the subject, all of our free sessions are designed to help you develop knowledge, skills and confidence.

Working with GroupsLeicestershire and Rutland’s natural history societies are crucial in providing records and carrying out surveys in the counties. Without them, there would be a much poorer picture of distribution and changes that occur. With global warming, monitoring these changes is becoming ever more important. |
