Historic and Natural Environment Team

Map of LeicestershireThis team consists of  County Council experts who know about the local and natural history of Leicestershire and Rutland. This includes archaeology, historic buildings, geology and ecology.
The team was created to make local heritage information more accessible and is developing systems to make the information available to many more people.  It also has a dedicated outreach team making links with local communities, groups and individuals across both counties.
High quality accurate environmental data helps everyone, from school students to business developers.  Leicestershire County Council intends to be the best at making this data available in the best way to the most people.
The Historic and Natural Environment Team sits within the Environmental Management Group, in the Environment and Heritage Service, part of the Community Services Department of Leicestershire County Council.
