Voluntary Organisations & Volunteering

Leicestershire has a thriving Voluntary Sector that makes a fantastic contribution to communities across the county. The Council appreciates the value that can be added by the Voluntary Sector; its specialist knowledge and understanding of the needs of individuals and communities. The Council is signed up to the Leicestershire Compact which outlines the undertakings of both Leicestershire’s Public Sector and Voluntary & Community Sector in working together to ensure better communication, planning and ultimately service delivery.

The Compact is supported by five Codes of Good Practice, including the Funding, Commissioning & Procurement Code of Good Practice. This Code sets out the financial relationship between the Public Sector and the Voluntary & Community Sector in Leicestershire. The Code's aim is to ensure sound funding and financial decisions that support well-delivered quality services.

A Community Forum meeting gives you the opportunity to discuss local services with your County, District and Parish Councillors and representatives from other agencies such as the Health Service and the Police. There are 27 Community Forums, covering the whole of Leicestershire. These forums will play an important role in ensuring that services provided in your area match the needs of your local community.
