Common Assessment Framework Team

Supporting Better Futures for Children, Young People and Families in Leicestershire, Leicester, & Rutland
The CAF Team is for children, young people and families who need extra help at the right time.  We aim to make getting advice and support easier and, in the long term, improve services, by helping to ensure all agencies (including schools, health, youth work and social care services), work together.
In order to do this the CAF Team has:
  • set up ways of safely sharing information, and using common assessments
  • created a directory of services
They will:
  • Strengthen the way services are provided for children and young people that need help
  • Make it easier to get help, and check whether the help is properly provided
  • Help to identify where more services might be needed
  • Make it easier to share information - so avoiding the need to repeatedly give the same information.
They have responsibility for:
  • Administering/updating the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) Database
  • Taking/recording “Intents to CAF” and completing checks on the CAF Database and with other Services to see if there is Responsive Safeguarding (Tier 3/4) involvement
  • Supporting and administering the Multi Agency Forums around the County
  • Giving advice and guidance on CAF related matters
  • Providing CAF/LP Practitioner and Awareness Training
  • Building links and integrated working across all 5 localities within the County on the CAF/LP process.
