Children’s Rights Officer
Part of the job of the County Council’s Children’s Rights Officer is to act as an advocate (this means she campaigns on your behalf) for young people who are looked after by Children & Young People's Service.
So, if you feel that you are not receiving the service that you need from agencies such as the Health Service, the Children & Young People's Service etc, then you can contact the Children’s Rights Officers at County Hall on (0116) 305 6302/7597 or 0800 0830652 (freephone from landline) and they can come out and advocate on your behalf.
AIMS:
- To give a voice to young peoples' rights
- To support and advocate for young people
- To explain what your rights are
- To help put a stop to things that should not happen
- To make sure those caring for you listen to what you have to say
- To help sort out complaints or things that you are not happy with
- Encourage you to say what you feel is good about care and what should change
- Put you in touch with other people who can give you advice
- Help you meet with other young people who are being looked after
