Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) -
Leicestershire and Rutland
The LSCB covers the area of Leicestershire and Rutland. It is a statutory body, required by the Children Act 2004, comprising senior representatives of agencies who work with children.
The LSCB website for Leicestershire and Rutland can be seen at www.lrlscb.org
The board works within the Government’s ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda, contributing to achievement of the five outcomes for children, but with a particular focus on ‘staying safe’.
The core objectives of the LSCB are:
- to co-ordinate what is done by each agency to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- to ensure the effectiveness of what is done by each agency and by agencies working together.
As part of this, the board will:
- develop child protection procedures and policies
- ensure child protection work is of a consistently high standard
- arrange training for staff who work with children, parents and families
- raise awareness generally about the need to protect children and how members of the public can help.
Note: There is a separate LSCB for Leicester City: www.lcitylscb.org
