The museum holds special events, family fun days and 'hands-on' workshops throughout the year.

February 2010

Treasure!

Hallaton TreasureWednesday 17th February,1-3pm and 2-4pm
This event will be held in both the Market Harborough Library and Museum.
Stories and crafts with a treasure theme in the Library. Sessions start in the library at 1pm and 2pm.
Followed by activities in the museum - see what you can dig up!
5-12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is Free!

Praecones Britanniae

Sounds from a Hilltop

Saturday 27th February 11am-1pm and 2-4pm
Drop in sessions with Praecones Britanniae.
Listen to the haunting music of the 1st century AD and meet some Roman musicians.
Admission is Free!

March 2010

Stories of the Celts

Saturday 13th March 11am-12pm and 2-3pm
Interactive stories with a costumed storyteller.
5-12 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Free!

Coins of the Celts

National Science Week logo
Saturday 20th March 11am-1pm and 2-4pm
Drop in and speak to an Iron Age craftsman and make your very own Celtic coin.
Admission is Free! but there is a charge of £1 per coin produced.

Arts and Crafts

Saturday 27th March 11am-4pm
Drop in arts and crafts session at the museum.
5-12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is Free!

Easter Arts and Crafts

Wednesday 31st March 11am-4pm
Drop in arts and crafts session at the museum with an Easter theme.
5-12 years who must be accompanied by an adult.
Admission is Free!

April 2010

Hidden Talents Exhibition

Monday 5th April -Wednesday 30th June
An exhibition featuring traditional and unusual arts and crafts produced locally.
Admission to the exhibition is Free!

Hidden Talents - Live!

Hidden Talents LiveSaturday 10th April - Saturday 29th May, 11am-1pm every Saturday
Drop in and see local craftsmen at work from spinning, carving, painting and jewellery making to embroidery and bookmaking.
Some sessions will be interactive.
Admission is Free!

May 2010

Celtic Giants

Monday 31st May 11am - 4pm
Help make a Celtic giant for the town's carnival and listen to tales of Celtic myth.
Drop-in activity.

Roman Soldiers

Life in Leicestershire AD 43

Saturday 24th July 11am - 4pm
Imagine yourself in an Iron Age roundhouse and step back 2000 years to discover what life was like for a Celtic tribe.
Visit our Roman camp and meet Roman soldiers recently arrived following the invasion of Britain in AD 43.
Make a real Celtic coin to take home to celebrate the Festival of British Archaeology.
Drop-in activity.
Free! but £1 per coin produced.

Festival of British Archaeology

Monday 26th July - Saturday 31st July, 10.30am - 4.15pm
Drop-in to the Museum and see what's going on for the Festival of British Archaeology.
Includes activities ranging from archaeology themed arts and crafts to Celtic tribes people and Roman soldiers with tales to tell.
