The Family STEPs Service

Family STEPs logo
Family STEPs ("Solutions To Everyday Problems") is a multi-agency network of professionals from Health, Education, Social Care, the Youth Offending Team and the Voluntary Sector. The services work together to provide support to families and professionals to encourage the emotional well-being of children under the age of 13 years.
The network offers early intervention to families, designed to bring about positive change in behaviour and relationships.
The Family STEPs network is made up of the following services:
  • Family Support Workers – work with parents/carers who need help in managing their child’s behaviour.
  • Primary Mental Health Workers - offer consultation, advice and training to professionals about child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Educational Psychology/Specialist Teachers – work with families, teachers and other school staff to address educational issues relating to children’s behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • YISP Preventative Workers – work with children and young people who have been identified as being at risk of involvement in youth crime.
  • Fun and Families – provide parenting groups to help improve parent and child interaction.
More information about these teams and services is available on Family STEPs - Information for Professionals.
