Early Years Professionals

Leicestershire is making good progress towards the governments aim of having a graduate Early Years Professional (EYP) in every
Children’s Centre offering early years care and learning by 2010, and one in every Full daycare setting by 2015 (two in settings serving
the most deprived areas).
As well as Full daycare, Childminders and Sessional Pre-schools are gaining EYP status. If you would like to find out more about the
role of an EYP visit the links below.

If you are already a qualified Early Years Practitioner or graduate, and would like to find out more about becoming an EYP and the
funding available - contact the Workforce Development team on 0116 305 6555.
In order to gain the full EYP status candidates will have to prove (show certificates) that they have English and Maths GCSE graded A-C, an adult learning level 2 English/Maths will not be accepted by the Universities.
This document explains that and how you can undertake a GCSE if necessary. As part of our criteria to fund a Level 3 course we state that they must have a GCSE in English graded A-C and we will accept a Level 2 equivalent.
