Renewable Energy Kits

Renewable Energy Kits![]() A
new educational resource that makes learning about energy exciting and fun is proving popular, even
before it has been launched. In a pilot scheme 18 schools across Leicestershire have borrowed the kits
in the Summer term of 2009. A set of renewable energy kits will shortly made
available to schools and interested groups in Leicestershire to borrow for a fixed period. The kits
are supported through teaching aids (coming soon!) with lesson plans and a presentation
that all link to the National Curriculum. You can register your interest in receiving one by completing
an expression of interest form. The
kits show how
wind turbine, photovoltaic cells and solar water heaters generate renewable energy. The energy generated
can be measured using a voltage meter and can also run a small fan, power a light or blow a buzzer.
To find out more download a Renewable energy Kits Flyer. ![]() Through
this scheme ENABLE (Environmental Action for a Better Leicestershire), a countywide environment partnership,
would like to embed the sustainability message in our children to tackle threats posed by climate change.
The scheme will hopefully assist Leicestershire teachers in delivering sustainability message to all
pupils.Schools and other community groups can also borrow a wide range of
artifacts, such as museum objects, replicas and natural history specimens from the Resource Box collection.
These items can be included at no cost within the delivery charge for the Renewable Energy Kits. For
further information visit Resource Box. Due
to the limited number of kits available, all resources will be allocated on a first come first serve
basis. To reserve a set of kits please complete and submit the expression of interest for located at
the bottom of the page or use the order from in the Resource Box catalogue already in your school. For
further information contact the Resource Box Officer on 01455 552 834 or e-mail sherrier@leics.gov.uk. ![]() |
