Collections Resources Centre
About the CentreOpen by appointment onlyCollections Resources Centre. c/o Arts and Heritage Services, County Hall, Glenfield, LE3 8RL. Tel: 01509 815514. Email: museums@leics.gov.uk The
Collections
Resources Centre is open by appointment only - you will be given the address when you book with us. The
Collections
Resources Centre and the Collections Facility at Snibston offer visitors personal, hands-on access to
over one million objects and specimens facilitated by a Museum specialist. Available by appointment only. Visitors
can make an appointment to meet the Collections Team who care for the objects and who can advise them
how to get the most out of their visit. If you are researching your local area, a particular period
of time or a specific subject; if you are interested in your local wildlife or environment; or if you
are looking for inspiration for a creative project then a visit to the collections may be useful to
you. Visits to the collections can be organised for small groups or individuals. We
also have objects that can be borrowed by community groups to support their own projects and we are
happy to consider requests to borrow objects from our collections to include in other museum or heritage
exhibitions. The
Collections Resources Centre runs a number of Events, based around the collections including
identification
and creative sessions and our team can tailor a visit to suit your needs. Objects from Leicestershire’s collections have appeared in exhibitions
throughout the country and across the world. Much of our work is supported
by volunteers and there are limited Volunteering Opportunities both at the Collections
Resources Centre and at Snibston Discovery Museum. In 2010, the Collections Resources Centre was awarded
Renaissance Volunteer Flagship Status in recognition of this programme. Also see Facilities and Access before
arranging a visit to the centre. Feedback from Store Tours |
