Leicestershire County Council Highways Alliances
Following an efficiency review of the Leicestershire County Council’s (LCC) Highways Transportation and Waste Management Department in 2006, it was recognised that the formation of alliances between internal and external partners could bring in savings of 5-15% (through the reduction in the number of external contracts being awarded and associated administration).
2007/8 saw the set up of three innovative working alliances, two of which (3CAP and MHA) are the first of their kind in the UK.
The aims of these alliances are to share working practices with neighbouring authorities and deliver efficiency savings ‘on the ground’.
